The good (and bad) CPR songs

Welcome to another edition of the Do CPR Daily Newsletter!

As an emergency training instructor at Do CPR, I'm always looking for ways to make learning about health/safety and CPR more fun and enjoyable. After all, who wants to sit through a boring lecture on heart health? Not me!

So, I thought I'd ask the question: which songs can you do CPR to? What are the best ones, and what are the worst ones? Now, I'm sure a lot of people have different opinions on this, but the most important thing to consider is the tempo. You want to choose a song with a consistent beat that you can match your compressions to.

Let's start with the best ones first. If you're looking for a classic, you can't go wrong with the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive." Its dance rhythm and steady beat make it perfect for CPR practice. The same can be said for Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."

On the other hand, there are songs you should avoid if you're doing CPR. Although these songs have a consistent beat for providing CPR, AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" is a great song for a party, but it's probably not a great option for practicing CPR. Queen's "Another one Bites the Dust" is also one that you might want to avoid.

If you're looking for some funny songs to do CPR to, here's a few of my favorites: "Y.M.C.A." by the Village People, "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, and "Take On Me" by A-ha.

At the end of the day, the important thing to remember is that you should stay focused and take your CPR practice seriously. It's a life-saving skill that everybody should know.
